Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has predicted that the President will defeat his opponents by a significantly wider margin in the 2027 presidential election.

Bwala made the prediction during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he defended his confidence in Tinubu’s electoral prospects despite arguments that the President secured victory by a relatively narrow margin in the 2023 election.

The presidential aide said Tinubu overcame significant political obstacles ahead of the 2023 election and argued that the circumstances confronting the President at the time demonstrated his ability to prevail despite difficult odds.

According to Bwala, Tinubu faced opposition within the then-ruling All Progressives Congress, controversial government policies introduced before the election and uncertainty among some state governors.

“The confidence I have is this: all of the statistics and results you read out which happened before President Bola Tinubu won the election at that time, there was nobody who did not know that the odds were not in his favour,” Bwala said.

He also recalled the APC presidential primary, where he said Tinubu faced uncertainty within the party before eventually securing the presidential ticket.

“The odds were against him, even at the primary level. He could have been rigged out,” he said.

Bwala attributed part of Tinubu’s growing political strength ahead of 2027 to the number of governors who have declared support for the President, particularly in the North-East.

He argued that the backing of governors could have a significant impact on the President’s campaign because of their influence over political structures across their respective states.

“President Bola Tinubu has got how many governors on his side? How many governors have joined him? The governors are Chief Executive Officers of their respective states; they coordinate the structures of the state and won their election to be governors,” he said.

The presidential aide subsequently made a categorical prediction about the outcome of the 2027 presidential contest.

“Let me tell you and let me say it categorically, and I will be happy to come back, the gap that President Bola Tinubu will give each and every one of these candidates will be so much that you won’t believe it,” Bwala said.

His comments come as political parties, opposition coalitions and prospective presidential candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Several political figures have already begun positioning themselves for the presidential contest, while parties and emerging alliances continue to strategise ahead of the election.

Bwala’s prediction represents his political assessment as a presidential aide, rather than an established electoral outcome, with the eventual result to be determined by voters at the 2027 election.
