Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Monday led the All Progressives Congress (APC) women’s mobilisation and empowerment campaign as the ruling party intensified preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The event, held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, brought together APC women stakeholders, female aspirants and members of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council Women Mobilisation Directorate. The gathering formed part of the party’s efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and women’s participation ahead of the 2027 polls.

The First Lady was accompanied by the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima; Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari; Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma; former APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje; and other party leaders.

The programme featured an empowerment exercise through which women beneficiaries received various livelihood support items aimed at strengthening their economic activities.

Senator Tinubu personally presented some of the items to beneficiaries, including a motorbike, as part of the initiative designed to support women’s livelihoods.

The event also featured engagements with women leaders and stakeholders as the APC works to build stronger grassroots structures across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory ahead of the 2027 elections.

The First Lady also held a closed-door meeting with female APC aspirants and other dignitaries on the sidelines of the programme.

The mobilisation drive is being coordinated through the Women Mobilisation Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, with the broader programme themed “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity.”

The summit marks part of the APC’s broader preparations for the 2027 general elections, with party leaders seeking to increase women’s participation in political mobilisation, grassroots engagement and the electoral process.
