The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially commenced its 2027 presidential and National Assembly campaign in Ogun Central Senatorial District, drawing thousands of residents and party supporters across the district.
The campaign train moved through the Ifo/Ewekoro, Abeokuta North and Abeokuta South Federal Constituencies on Wednesday, with large crowds gathering along major streets and campaign venues to receive the party’s candidates and leaders.
The flag-off began at Agbado Station in the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, where residents welcomed the PDP governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu; his running mate, Alhaja Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo; the party’s Ogun Central senatorial candidate, Prof. Iyabo Obasanjo, and other party leaders.
The campaign team later moved to Abeokuta North, where supporters gathered at NTA Junction, Totoro, to receive the team. Dele Olaleye, the party’s House of Representatives candidate for the constituency, was also presented to supporters.
A similar reception was recorded in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, where supporters trooped out to welcome the campaign train and accompanied the convoy to Ake Pavilion, venue of the Ogun Central flag-off rally.
Adebutu urges voters to reject APC
Addressing the rally, Adebutu urged residents of Ogun Central to vote for the PDP in the 2027 elections, describing the party as capable of restoring what he called better days for Nigerians.
He also urged supporters to protect their votes and resist intimidation during the elections.
According to him, the PDP delivered some of Nigeria’s best periods of development when it controlled the Federal Government.
“I want to remind you all that the best times of Nigeria have largely emerged under the leadership of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party,” Adebutu said.
He called on voters to reject what he described as the “oppressive APC government” through their votes.
“Be ready to stand by your votes, resist intimidation and use the power of the ballot to say enough is enough to misgovernance and maladministration,” he added.
Adebutu also urged Ogun Central residents to support Obasanjo for the Senate, describing her as a tested and trusted candidate with a record of service to the district.
Obasanjo, who previously represented Ogun Central in the Senate between 2007 and 2011 and served as Commissioner for Health in Ogun State between 2003 and 2007, said she was encouraged by the recognition of her previous contributions by residents.

The former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s daughter promised to build on her previous record if elected, with a focus on ensuring that residents benefited more from democratic governance.
She also appealed to Ogun residents to support the PDP’s candidates and help the party return to power.
The campaign featured chants, solidarity songs and street rallies as supporters moved with the campaign convoy across the three federal constituencies.
Residents and party supporters who addressed the campaign team pledged their support for the PDP candidates and expressed readiness to vote for the party in the 2027 elections.
