..vows Accord will remain on Osun Governorship ballot

By Sodiq Adelakun

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has faulted a Federal High Court judgment deregistering five political parties, describing the ruling as an abuse of court process and a violation of a subsisting order of the Court of Appeal.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor expressed surprise that the lower court proceeded to deliver judgment despite an earlier order by the Court of Appeal directing a stay of proceedings in the matter.

According to Adeleke, the appellate court had already intervened and was scheduled to hear the case on Tuesday, making the Federal High Court’s decision questionable.

The governor called on residents and supporters across the state to remain calm, assuring them that the legal process would ultimately protect their democratic rights.

“I call on the people of Osun to remain calm and be assured that our rights will be affirmed and our party, Accord Party, will be on the ballot on August 15,” Adeleke stated.

He maintained confidence that the party would not only participate in the forthcoming governorship election but would also emerge victorious.

“We will not only be on the ballot, but we will also win the upcoming governorship election convincingly. We must stay focused and continue mobilising our people,” he added.

Adeleke dismissed concerns over the court ruling, describing it as a political distraction that would not derail preparations for the election.

The governor further assured supporters that the official launch of his re-election campaign would proceed as scheduled despite the judicial development.

He also disclosed that his legal team had already commenced steps to challenge the judgment and safeguard his candidacy under the Accord Party platform.

The development comes amid growing political activities ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, with stakeholders closely watching the legal proceedings and the expected hearing at the Court of Appeal.
