The Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, has led a high-powered management delegation to the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Complex in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, for talks aimed at strengthening collaboration between both energy giants.

The visit, which featured a guided tour of the facility, culminated in a renewed commitment by the two companies to deepen operational and commercial ties in line with their shared vision for Nigeria’s energy future.

Ojulari commended the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, for what he described as vision and resilience in delivering the 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery.

He noted that the project positions Nigeria as a key downstream hub in Africa.

Describing the alliance as strategic, Ojulari said the partnership would “unlock synergies across assets, infrastructure, capital and markets,” while also ensuring greater visibility of business engagements between NNPC Ltd and the refinery.

He further highlighted opportunities for expanded cooperation in upstream operations, trading, shipping and gas supply, among other areas of mutual interest.

The NNPC boss also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he termed visionary leadership in the oil and gas sector. According to him, policy clarity, investor-friendly reforms and a strong commitment to sectoral transformation have created an enabling environment for large-scale partnerships to thrive.

In his remarks, Dangote said Nigerians would ultimately benefit from the strengthened collaboration.

“Nigerians will be the beneficiaries of the synergy between Dangote Group and NNPC Ltd, because our collaboration will achieve economies of scale and unlock value across markets,” he said.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation to enhance energy security, drive industrial growth and deliver sustainable value to Nigerians.

NNPC Ltd currently holds a 7.25 per cent stake in the Dangote Refinery, a strategic investment aligned with its downstream growth objectives and support for increased domestic refining capacity.
