The naira recorded a mixed performance in today’s foreign exchange trading sessions, as market forces continued to reflect persistent demand for the U.S. dollar alongside ongoing liquidity conditions in Nigeria’s FX market.

In the official market, the naira traded within a relatively stable range for most of the session, with traders attributing the movement to cautious interventions and moderated demand from corporate users.

However, pressure persisted in some segments of the unofficial market, where dollar scarcity continued to influence pricing dynamics.

Bureau de change operators reported varying rates during the day, reflecting uneven supply levels and fluctuating demand from importers, travelers, and small-scale businesses seeking foreign currency.

Analysts note that sentiment in the market remains closely tied to broader macroeconomic factors, including foreign reserve levels, crude oil earnings, and ongoing policy measures aimed at stabilising the exchange rate.

Despite the fluctuations, traders said there was no significant shock to the market, as participants continue to adjust positions in response to liquidity conditions and regulatory guidance.

Market watchers expect that near-term performance of the naira will depend largely on sustained dollar inflows, central bank interventions, and improvements in export earnings, particularly from oil and non-oil sectors.

Overall, the currency closed the day with a broadly stable but slightly pressured tone across different trading windows, reflecting ongoing balancing forces in the FX market.
