The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command (NSCDC), has arrested suspected vandals accused of destroying electrical armoured cables in the Amuwo-Odofin area of Lagos State.
In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command of the NSCDC, Oluwaseun Abolurin on Thursday, the command commended residents of the Amuwo community for their cooperation and timely intelligence sharing, which it said contributed significantly to the operational success.
According to the command, the breakthrough followed a series of community engagement programmes organised during the first and second quarters of 2026 with key stakeholders across the state.
The NSCDC disclosed that its operatives acted on credible and actionable intelligence provided by members of the community, leading to the arrest of the suspects on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

The suspected vandals were reportedly caught in the act at about 4:35 p.m. while allegedly damaging armoured electrical cables within the Amuwo-Odofin axis.
The command stated that the arrests underscore the importance of community collaboration in tackling infrastructure vandalism and other forms of criminal activity.
It added that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
