A 32-year-old Uber driver, Godswill Amfor, was on Thursday arraigned before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing a Toyota Camry valued at N7 million.
Amfor, who resides in the Mende area of Maryland, Lagos, is facing a charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, ASP Donjour Perezi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan. 25 along Awolowo Road in Ikeja.

Perezi alleged that the defendant stole a silver Toyota Camry with registration number ABJ 582 LB belonging to the complainant, Mr. Caleb Daudu.
According to the prosecutor, police officers arrested the defendant on Jan. 26 while he was driving the stolen vehicle in the Maryland area of Lagos.
He added that the vehicle and other personal items belonging to the complainant were recovered from the defendant at the time of arrest.
The prosecutor said the alleged offence contravenes Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs. S. K. Matepo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned until March 23 for mention.
